Consider what truly defines a place as home. Is it the physical structure, a beloved local landmark, a cherished meal or dish, perhaps the furniture, a special quilt, a garden, or a vivid memory of family moments spent together? All of these elements can be captured and expressed through visual art.

The Art Contest is open to children (kindergarten through 12th grade) and adults of all ages. Monetary prizes and ribbons will be awarded for “Best in Show,” along with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places. The artwork will be judged by credentialed judges from South Arkansas Art Center (SAAC) of El Dorado, Arkansas.

All artwork must have a signed registration form attached to the back of the piece and a paid entry fee ($5 for children; $10 for adults).

The members of the Claiborne Parish Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution extend our warmest wishes and encouragement to all artists.

  • Entry Deadline: October 17, 2025. Drop off between 2:00pm-7:00pm at the Homer City Hall Auditorium. (400 East Main Street, Homer, LA, 71040)

  • Exhibition: October 18, 2025 from 9:00am until 5:00pm at the Homer City Hall Auditorium. (400 East Main Street, Homer, LA, 71040)

  • Artwork Pickup: October 18, 2025 at 5:00pm

• Artwork: All 2D artworks accepted. All work must be matted on a black paper, cardstock, or poster board unless the work is on canvas. Pieces must be an original work created within the last year and is within the theme of the contest. Judges and show chairpersons have final authority to define what is an acceptable entry. Work will be divided into grade levels for children and by category for adults.

• Sales: Sales are encouraged. All works NOT FOR SALE must be clearly marked (“NFS.) A commission of 10% will be charged on all works sold as a result of the exhibition and will be given to the Claiborne Parish DAR Chapter.

• Artists are responsible for the delivery and pickup of all work.
